Orchid Beach runs for 14.5 km from the South Ngkala Rocks to rocky Waddy Point. The entire beach is a mecca for boating, beach fishing and swimming.
Champagne Pools are located a short 5km drive from Orchid Beach and are accessible on any tide. One of the most spectacular natural wonders on Fraser Island, they are a must to see and experience.
One of the least visited most remote parts of Fraser Island is its far north, Sandy Cape. Home to the Sandy Cape lighthouse, The Cape is a really special place, very isolated and spectaculary beautiful in its own way. It’s one-stop that has got to be on your Fraser island must do list. One thing to remember when travelling up here is that driving on low tide is a must! It’s also important to remember that you can’t drive up the beaches at night during turtle season. And to get there you have to cross Nkgala Rocks, a place that gets the better of many novices.
Ocean Lake is home to a variety of water birds taking advantage of the reeds and undisturbed sections of the lake. Nearby, an easy walk through cypress, banksia and melaleuca woodland offers a good lookout with panoramic views.
Waddy Point is located just a few short kilometres from Orchid Beach. Its where some of the best fishing gutters on the island are located with thousands of anglers visiting every year to catch the plentiful tailor, dart, bream, flathead and whiting from the beach. On a calm day, Marloo Bay’s sheltered waters are perfect for kayaking, canoeing or trying your luck at stand-up paddleboarding.
Fraser Island Dingoes
Our Fraser Island Dingoes are very special. Dingoes of Fraser Island have significant preservation value due to their pure status, due to domestic dogs being banned from the island. There is estimated to be around 25 to 30 packs on the island, each containing 3 to 12 dingoes. On Fraser Island, the dingoes are at the very top of the island’s food chain, which serves a vital role in the island’s conservation.
